I have always wondered how some people are so detached from everything.. If a rocketship crashes at thier feet or someone at a resteraunt slaps them, throws the glass of water on their face and shows them the finger.. nothing... they are as composed as a person getting a nobel prize.. like they dont know the meaning of the term shell shocked..
As if they have this force field around them that cocoons them from everything or numbs everything that is sharp... and all they are eventually left with is the placid and calm feeling .. nirvana..
and when u see their face.. its almost as if they are saying..
u can can do whatever u wanna do.. u aint gonna get to me!!!!
and im thinking... my God!!! How the fuck are u so calm.. i mean come on.. wat are u.. stone??!!
and another part in me says.. i wanna be that.. learn how to not scream and throw something at someone when im losing the last shred of sanity i have..
I wanna be able to stand there.. look around where everything is burning and feel like im standing along the sea shore..calm.. composed... and most importantly.. detached...

Emotions are what makes us humans,
Taking control of them is somethin all of us yearn to acheive...
But it doesn't come to all..
Sheer happiness and gloom does not come to that person who can control his/her emotion. We stay detached then we don't even experience that happiness... so do u want to be that person?
But then ya sometimes I do feel the same way too... stay calm, composed and just contented n happy bout everything!

wat we need is a switch that u can control wenever u please..
In a river mist, if another boat knocks against yours, you might yell at the other fellow to stay clear. But if you notice then, that it's an empty boat, adrift with nobody aboard, you stop yelling. When you discover that all the others are drifting boats, there's no one to yell at. And when you find out you are an empty boat, there's no one to yell.
Things which are too good to be true most probably are not... They say that the person who has a smile on his/her face all the time is also hurting the most.
The calmness has its own serene regrets... Staying composed eventually drives you to regret lost moments where you could have told off someone who has sidestepped and could have helped them correct their ways OR in a worser case, regret not telling someone special how they made you feel at that moment.
Dont get me wrong but calmness is a gift and a curse...
the person may not be unaffected.. some people are introverted.. they direct all their energy inwards.. so you don't see them hurting or feeling happy or anything... but that doesn't mean they are not affected...
as haas mentioned there also those who bottle their emotions... these people will end up on a couch next to a shrink rubbing his hands in glee... not good for you.. not to mention your bank account...
and then there are people who are actually detached.. these people are buddhists!... mostly... and if you want to become a buddhist, as swe mentioned, you must also detach from happiness... too high a price? some people think it is...
how about a step above it.. where we detach from the happiness but not the sorrow.. thousands of years of wisdom says it can't be done.. but incorrigible youth that we are, we still want to try it don't we... people have attempted this by follow one particular philosophy.. it goes by many names.. one of them is Valium.. the others being coke, smack, reefer etc etc... followers are generically called junkies... unfortunately membership mandates an appointment with the Betty Ford center or the graveyard next to it... yikes!
mindless ramling aside.. a wise old man once said to me.. don't fight your emotions.. feel them.. to their full extent... cry if you must... learn to recognize it.. and then stop...do this regularly.. and some day you will get to the point where you say.. this is what i'm feeling.. i won't let this control me... and just like that you will be liberated.... ... ...i think...
but don't you think we need it all.. that's what makes it life!! where's the fun otherwise..

Thats probably the first comment u have left in my blog.. :)
if i am an empty boat.. then all i wanna say is this..
cry me a river :D
Haas:

as true as that is..its probably their way of running away from whatever is bothering them..
running away helps.

i cracked up wen i read ur comment. god.. miss u so much :D
hope ur having a blast.. and dont try to become a buddhist or a junkie.. and i promise.. i wont either:)
..... of the third kind
there are people who would not like to react in a particular way (or any set way) as others do. its more like "i dont want to think like the others think( or act). that can some times make a person think or act the way you have mentioned. they might behave super cool for a situation which demands panic just because there are people around them who are actiing according to the situation.
these kind of people are very common in our surroundings. they want to step "outside" the normal and show that they are infact different!!!

"I wanna be able to stand there.. look around where everything is burning and feel like im standing along the sea shore..calm.. composed... and most importantly.. detached..."----If u can achieve that u no longer are human but just a machine. No doubt, its safer that way,but do u want a life like that?Whats the use of such a meaningless life?when life ceases to be life and just becomes existance.....
